The problem with keeping News Year’s resolutions is that we bite off more than we can chew. Losing 30 pounds, or giving up caffeine, are fairly daunting tasks to complete, especially when the only motivation is the clock striking midnight on December 31st.
Join us in a series of resolutions that are easy to keep, and the longer you stick to them, the better your skin looks. Here are our top 5 New Year’s resolutions for your best skin:
1. Get Serious about Sunscreen
Doctors have been advising daily use of sunscreen for decades, and now it’s time for you to get serious about it. Keep your tube of at least SPF 30 handy so you can reapply often. If it sounds messy, opt for a non-greasy formula, or try one of the new spray-on sunscreens, but stick with paraben free products this year.
2. Never Sleep in Your Makeup
Not that we have to remind you, but falling asleep before you wash off your makeup causes dirt, skin oils and makeup to seep into your skin as you press your face into the pillowcase.
3. Exfoliate on a Regular Basis
Exfoliation is the process of sloughing off dead skin cells, so you should do it as often as twice a week. The best skin care products for exfoliation are gentle face scrubs, chemical exfoliates, and microfiber face cloths.
4. Try Something New this Year
If you keep up with the hottest Youtube beauty bloggers, you know that the best skin care products of 2017 are serums and creams with hyaluronic acid, which give you the same anti-aging and rejuvenating effects as clinical facials, at a fraction of the cost.
5. Keep it Clean in ‘17
It’s not just your face that needs to be spotless. After you find the best skin care products in your price range, keep them clean. Makeup brushes can become a breeding ground for bacteria, so wash them at least once a month with liquid hand soap in lukewarm water.
Finally, stack your New Years skin care resolutions on a firm foundation of balanced nutrition, regular exercise, and plenty of beauty sleep – with sleep being the most important of all.

They say everything in nature is about balance, and that is no less true when it comes to our skin. Achieving the delicate ying and yang of beautiful skin may come down to maintaining the right pH balance. So, what is the magic pH level of healthy skin? On a scale of 0 to 14, the ideal state is slightly acidic, sitting around 5.
What products we use can also affect the pH level of healthy skin. Have you ever wondered why some cleansers give your skin that squeaky-clean tight feeling? They could be disrupting your skin’s pH level. Choose soap-free cleansers that are pH balanced (not too alkaline or too acidic) that fall within the range of normal, healthy skin.
