3 Self-Love Habits to Start Now (for your best skin yet!)

If February is all about love, then what better place to start than self-love? Whether solo, in a long-term relationship, or dating, looking after yourself- the proverbial ‘filling your cup first’- helps pave the way for interacting towards others with greater kindness, empathy, and patience. Our top three habits also help give you your best skin yet, whether you’re in your 20s, 40s or 60s!

Mindful Work Outs

TLC is our favorite new way to describe working out. And yes, while high-intensity training is all the rage, so are recovery activities and mental wellness classes. Workouts are no longer limited to straightforward physical activity but encompass massage therapy, restorative yoga, meditation, and sound baths. These tools help manage stress and anxiety and can improve your overall appearance,  on top of more toned muscles and a fitter physique. Feeling less stress means fewer worry lines around the eyes and forehead, fewer frown lines around the mouth, and for many fewer breakouts, and clearer, more glowing, toned skin!

Back to the Basics

Eating less packaged foods and more fresh fruits and vegetables can play a huge role in improving your skin from the inside out. Eating more plant-based foods can greatly improve diet-related chronic illness, bloating and skin breakouts. Meanwhile, conscious food choices, such as reducing meat, dairy and packaged foods helps curtail your environmental impact. A win-win!! There are many top offenders for skin disorders, such as coffee, cocoa, corn and the hormone levels in cow’s milk to name a few, but it’s best to talk to your doctor and take food tests for your individual concerns.

Natural, Paraben-Free, Clean Ingredients

Cleaner eating and cleaner products work in tandem to keep your skin bright and clear. One of our favorite ‘clean’ moisturizers for clearer skin has to be Squalane. Naturally sourced from olives, it helps improve skin’s elasticity and radiance while protecting against pollutants and acne-prone skin with its anti-bacterial properties. For dryer skin, 100% Pure Argan Oil is known as ‘liquid gold’ for its amazing nourishing and healing abilities for the whole body, including hair and nails. Packed with omega fatty acids and vitamin E, the 100% natural unrefined oil is derived from the kernel of the Argan tree nut in Morocco. Looking for a superpower ingredient to add to your existing moisturizer, foundation or skin care regime? 100% Pure Hyaluronic Acid Serum assists in the delivery of active ingredients across the skin, holding up to 1000 times its weight in water.

So go on and pamper yourself this month and you might just discover a whole new you!

Peptides are another beauty buzzword, so what’s all the hype about? For those of us wary of cosmetic procedures or just not willing (or able!) to spend that kind of money on our skin, it appears that peptides have a lot to offer when it comes to that coveted trifecta – lifting, firming and smoothing fine lines and wrinkles.

Vitamin C Versus Matrixyl
Vitamin C Versus Matrixyl

July 22, 2020

Vitamin C and Matrixyl (peptides) are part of the dream team of those tried and true skincare ingredients that also include Hyaluronic Acid, Retinol, and AHA/BHAs.

Together, Peptides and Vitamin C can work as a great partnership, bringing different strengths to the relationship while also overlapping forces in other areas, such as collagen production. They both work to counteract the visible signs of aging, reducing wrinkles and fine lines. But this is where the similarities end.
