How-to-Practice-Safe-Sunning

Sunbathing is a fun activity during the summer. A little time soaking up some rays can give your skin a wondrous glow. However, it can also be dangerous if you do not know what you are doing. Do not get carried away, and follow some basic tips to develop a good tan without experiencing skin damage

Limit Time Outdoors

You should only stay directly in sunlight for between 15 and 30 minutes. You also want to do your sunning at a time in the day when the sun is not in the middle of the sky. This is generally before 10 a.m. and after 4 p.m. The last thing you want to do is fall asleep while sunning only to wake up to a major sunburn.

Wear Sunscreen

Even if your goal is to get tanner, you still need a good sunscreen. Most people will be fine with an SPF 15 sunscreen. However, people with particularly sensitive skin may require SPF 30.

Wear a Hat

You may want to give your body a tan, but your face will not need as much sunlight. Limit exposure to UV rays by wearing a hat and sunglasses when sunbathing. This will provide further protection to your face’s skin tissue and ward off the development of wrinkles and fine lines.

Avoid Tanning Beds

Despite the hype, there are many dangers to using tanning beds. Getting natural sunlight is the way to go, provided you do it safely. Another problem with tanning beds is that they do not provide any UVB rays, which is the type of sunlight that provides your body with Vitamin D.

Ultimately, you should be aware of how well your skin handles the sun. If you start getting too red, then you want to seek shelter as soon as you can. To give your skin an added boost, use Timeless Skin Care products. Learn more by contacting us at 800-213-3705.
